On the early hours of Sunday the 6th of February, we were woken by the disheartening news of our Kitsilano restaurant being on fire. Neighbouring shop Fresh Local Market promptly alerted the Fire Brigade which has intervened promptly. The Fire brigade found a fire inside the wall cavity of the exterior corner of the building which already made up his way to the first floor balcony, where our wine and lounge bar Passaparola is located. The crews had to dismantle a lot of the exterior wall to find all the hotspots and some structural damages have occurred, but their prompt intervention has minimised the interiors’ damages.

Investigations on the causes of the fire are still ongoing, and the extent of the financial impact has yet to be assessed. However, some of the information being shared with the press in the hours immediately after the fire seem to have been slightly misinterpreted.

Although we are not sure on the duration of the closure of Robba da Matti Kitsilano and Passaparola Burrata Bar, we are confident that with the continuous support of the community – which showed us so much love and empathy – we will be able to re-open those locations for our customers to conHnue enjoying the genuine Italian cooking that made us so popular and loved since our first opening in Yaletown in 2011.

We also confirm that the other three locations in Yaletown, Gastown and West End continue to operate as normal and with Dine Out special 3 course menus been extended till February 13. With the community’s support we will be able to serve fresh pasta, fine wine and good time soon again in Kitsilano.
